Vinnytchina is a land, rich in mineral resources. In its entrails of the earth 1159 deposits of 30 kinds of different mineral resources, tens of fields of peat, and also the unique beds of granite, kaolin, garnet and fluorite have been discovered. The unique sources of mineral water, in particular those with the high contents of radon in Khmelnie have been exploited and are active now.

The region has the largest kaolin-field in the world (800 mln. tons). The range of its usage is extremely wide: paper production, ceramic (porcelain, faience), electrotechnical (isolators), refractory, aluminium industry, textile, cable, rubber, chemical, soap-making industry, perfumery production, pencils and mineral paints production.

 

The unique decorative properties of Vinnytsya granites, sobits, vinnytsits, charnokyts allow to use them in the production of rock, wall boards, window sills, monuments and etc.

 

3 fields of granite have been prospected and are exploited (the granite supplies are 10 million), the tentative mining from 8 fields is conducted. The firms will have been well-provided for granite for more than 100 years.

 

In the region the field of garnets, the only field in Europe has been prospected (it has not been exploited yet) and the field of fluorities, that is unique for the Ukraine, is staying at the stage of the geological surveys and the technological test. Its resources, being previously calculated, make 100 million tons, and the as to the predicted ones, - these make 220 million tons. The noteworthy thing is, annually the metallurgical and the other branches of the Ukrainian industry use only 122 thousand tons of the fluorite concentrates imported from Mongolia, China, Thailand (this is 20 million dollars.)

 

Vinnytsya region also possesses the monopoly on the resources of pelykanit (39 fields with the 170 million tons of the predicted resources) in the Ukraine.

 

The quality of the brown coal of our entrails of the earth resembles the quality of the production of the analogous coal mines of the Dnipropetrovskiy basin and it is usable in power engineering, processing by the devolatisation of coal, hydrogenation methods. 3 fields with the 50 million tons of coal supply have been previously prospected. 3 more fields are at the stage of the prospecting.

 

5 sand fields have been explored and are exploited in the region. The raw material of one of them is suitable for the silicate brick manufacturing, of the other three - for the building solutions and of one - for the ballast property. The medicinal properties of mineral water from Khmelnitskiy radon field have been detected and are used nowdays. Besides that, 21 springs of the table water have been prospected, 10 of them have certificates. The bottling of water of five fields and its realisation has been arranged. It is "Regina", "Knyazhna", "Shumylivska "," Podylska "," Rosyana ". The mineral waters like " Myrgorodskaya " have been detected. The new fields of radon are likely to be discovered.

 

 The bauxites, that is ore for aluminium, have been discovered in Podyllya for the first time. By the estimations of the geologists, the predicted resources of the fields make about 3 million tons.

 

 

 

More than 400 firms, representing 14 branches of the industry, are active at the territory of Vinnitchina: food industry, that is 32,2 % of the whole potential, electric power industry (28,7 %), machenical engineering and metal working (10,1 %), chemical and petrochemical ones(7,7 %) etc. The new fields - microbialogic and medical ones are being developed. 

 

Our region specializes on the foodstuff production. In the total amount of the production manufactured in 1998, the foodstuffs made 80,7 %, 10,4 % and 5,2 % were made by the non-product group and by the light industry goods.

 

 In 1998 Vinnytchina took the second place among the regions of the Ukraine on the volume of the foodstuff production of the national consumption. Among the light industry enterprises the practice of the concluding the agreements with foreign firms about the goods made of the davalcheskiy* raw material is diffused. The cooperation with the corporations of Germany, the USA, Slovakia, Chekhia, Hungary, and the other countries has been established. In 1998 the following organisations worked using the davalcheskiy raw material of foreign firms: Vinnytsya joint-stock company "Podolye", open joint-stock company " Khmelnytzkiy garment factory "Lileya", Vinnytsya joint-stock company of the open type "Volodarka", joint-stock company "Tulchynskiy garment factory", etc.

 

At the territory of the region the powers, producing 10523,4 million kilowatt per hour of the electric power are located. The present day they are used only partially.

 

Vinnytchina has 39 sugar plants, 13 spirit plants. The base on the processing of the sunflower seeds and groats crops appeared.

 

 

 

The area of the agricultural land of all categories of the land proprietors and land users makes in Vinnytchina 2020,1 thousand hectares,

this includes the ploughed lands - 1730,6 thousand hectares,

the perennial plantations - 51,9 thousand hectares.

 

 According to the statistics, on1.01.1999 794 collective agricultural firms, 24 state farms of all systems, 19 intereconomic firms, 779 peasant (farmer) economies functioned at the territory of the region.

 

The basic specialization of the plant-growing is the cultivation of the grain crops and sugar-beet. In animal industries it is the producing of meat and milk.

 

 The winter wheat takes 17 %, barley - 5 %, sugar-beet - 9 % in the total structure of the areas under crop.

 

In 1998 the region manufactured 7 % of grain, 15,5 % of sugar-beet, 4 % of fruit and berries, 5,9 % of meat in alive weight, 5,2 % of milk, 4,3 % of eggs made in the Ukraine.

 

 

 

 3 main gas pipe lines pass across the territory of the Ukraine: Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod, "Soyuz", "Dashava-Kyjiv". 3659,8 km of the gas-allocation networks are exploited.

 

 

 

Taking into consideration the main directions of the production, the considerable amount of the agricultural machinery and the workshop equipment for the processing industry and the manufacturing of building stuffs is imported.

 

Since 1991 till December 1998 about 300 joint ventures with the engaging of the investments of 12,6 million dollars USA were being built in Vinnytchina. The corporations and citizens of 41 countries shared in the organization of these firms. The major part of the investments came from the United States of America, Spain, German, Poland, Israel and some other countries.
